چکیده
The purpose of this presentation is to describe a parallel piped oxygen and piped compressed air system for use in inhalation therapy, in patients with chronic pulmonary disease. Intermittent positive pressure breathing (IPPB) with nebulized bronchodilator has been utilized widely in the treatment of conditions associated with disturbances in respiration. Subjective benefits and functional improvement have been reported to occur incident to this mode of therapy.’ Wu and her associates5 demonstrated that the greatest and most prolonged improvement of ventilatory function in patients with severe chronic pulmonary insufficiency or with excessive secretions was obtained by this method as compared with other methods of aerosolization. Bronchial drainage is promoted by IPPB as a result of the rapid release of inspiratory pressure at the beginning of exhalation with a peak instaneous inspiratory flow velocity.6 That the effectiveness of compressed

Design of an Inhalation Chamber to Expose Laboratory Animals with Suspended Particulate Matter by Numerical Simulation Method
Introduction: Usually, in the toxicological studies of airborne particulate pollutants, inhalation exposure chambers are used for providing and distributing the test atmosphere uniformly and stability in the respiratory zone of laboratory animals. The purpose of this study was to design, evaluate and optimize a whole-body exposure chamber, specifically for small laboratory animals exposed to pa...
متن کاملSteam inhalation therapy: severe scalds as an adverse side effect.
BACKGROUND Steam inhalation therapy is often recommended in the treatment of a common cold. However, it has no proven benefit and may in fact have serious adverse side effects in terms of burn injuries. AIM To quantify the human and economic costs of steam inhalation therapy in terms of burn injury. DESIGN AND SETTING A prospective database study of all patients admitted to the burn centres...
متن کاملCOMPARING THE EFFECT OF MASSAGE AND INHALATION AROMATHERAPY ON VITAL SIGNS OF BURN PATIENTS: A SINGLE-BLIND RANDOMIZED CLINICAL TRIAL
Background and aims: Changes in the vital signs of burn patients are one of the most common problems during dressing. We should look for ways to reduce pain and anxiety followed by changes in the vital signs of these patients. Aromatherapy has been introduced as a low-cost, accessible and safe way to reduce pain and anxiety in patients. Therefore, this study aimed to compare the effect of aroma...
متن کاملEvaluation of the Droplet Collapsibility in Inhalation Drug Delivery through a 3D Computational Study
Background: Several multiphase flow analyses have been developed to predict the fate of particles used in inhalation drug delivery; however, the collapse of droplets during their passage through respiratory tract has not been investigated. Objective: To assess the probability of droplet collapse in the upper respiratory tract. Methods: A 3D model of mouth-to-second generation airway after the tr...
متن کاملFactors that improve the adherence to medication in asthmatic patients treated with inhalation therapy
Background Adherence to inhalation therapy is a critical determinant of the success of asthma management. However, in practice, no adherence to inhalation therapy is very common in asthmatics. The effects of adherence to inhalation therapy in asthma is less known about the relationship between medication adherence and quality of life in these patients. The aim of this study is to assess the fac...
متن کاملRacemic adrenaline and inhalation strategies in acute bronchiolitis.
BACKGROUND Acute bronchiolitis in infants frequently results in hospitalization, but there is no established consensus on inhalation therapy--either the type of medication or the frequency of administration--that may be of value. We aimed to assess the effectiveness of inhaled racemic adrenaline as compared with inhaled saline and the strategy for frequency of inhalation (on demand vs. fixed sc...
